Music Video director- Tim Pope

Tim Pope
  • Tim Pope is from the North of London, Enfield. He studied at Hornsley college of art in film making.
  • Pope went on to design Iggy Pops album and met Rob Smith in 1982.


  • Pope has directed over 37 music videos with The Cure. Some of his most famous being 'Friday I'm in love', 'Close to me', 'Come to Bed' and 'Just Like Heaven'.
  • Tim Pope also directed 'The Cure in Orange', which is a performance they did at the Eponymous theatre in the South of France.
  • He also recorded his own songs with them called, 'I want to be a tree', 'Elephants', and 'The Double Crossing of two-faced Fred'. These records are considered collectors items for fans of The Cure.
  • He directed his own short film in 1991 called 'Phone'.
  • He was asked by the Weinstein Brothers of Miramax to make 'The Crow: City of Angels' for them.
  • Over the years, Pope has worked with people like Neil Young, David Bowie and The cure.
  • He directed David Bowie's 50th birthday celebration at Madison Square in 1997. The show featured Robert Smith, Foo Fighters, Billy Corgan, Frank Black and Lou Reed.
  • In 2005 Pope was awarded with a CADS lifetime achievement by the music industry.
  • In 2013 he filmed The Cure's 'LatAm' tour across South America and Mexico.
  • He now lives with his family in Brighton..
