Star Analysis- Coldplay

Coldplay- Star analysis:

  • Coldplay in an English alternative rock band.
  • Coldplay were formed in 1996 and are still creating and writing music.
  • The band consists of Chris Martin (lead vocals), Guy Berryman (bass, backing vocals), Johnny Buckland (guitar, backing vocals) and Will Champion (drums, backing vocals).
  • They have six albums in total: Parachutes, A rush of blood to the head, X&Y, Viva la vida (death and all his friends), Mylo Xyloto and Ghost Stories.
  • They have a total of 58 awards including 8 Brit awards and 7 Grammy awards.
  • Originally they called themselves Pectoralz then changing their name to starfish before finally deciding in 1998 to call themselves Coldplay; a good choice.
  • Coldplay pride themselves on being a relaxed easy going band making many people such as myself find them appealing.
    • Coldplay's career started as a massive impact to the rest of their legacy. Their first album Parachutes released in 2000, transformed their career from being uni mates in famous stars set to take global stage, selling a total of 8.5 million copies worldwide with Shiver and Yellow taking number 1 spot.

  • Coldplay's career has changed massively over the years and that is why I chose to do a star analysis on them.
    • When Coldplay started their career they was very humble and almost shy as a band.
    • Whereas they are rather vibrant and colourful in their new work, Mylo Xyloto.
    • And now in their decent they have returned to more a sombre attitude in Ghost Stories.
    • Coldplay show through their stages of development the need for adaptation in the music industry, they have went back to how they started now but have had a dramatic change in the middle to keep people interested shown in Mylo Xyloto. #
