Evaluation
- To evaluate all of our work, I think we worked very hard to gain our end products and we are all pleased with the outcome. We gained many ideas from other videos, like the balloon idea, which came from both the videos (by Paramore) 'Still into You' and 'Ain't it Fun' where they used balloons as water and in the 'Ain't it fun' video they used feathers falling around the lead singer. We got the idea of using a set up scene from a students work that was on YouTube, in which they used a pop up set and lighting. We got the idea for using a park from our heads, as we were trying to think of places to go that would show the fun and carefree attitude of the band members. A park is also very childish and where people go to play, so the location reflected on our video and band members. We obviously wanted to include miming scenes, as that came under conventions of a music video and has something that most videos have. Some of the scenes we filmed weren't planned and we ended up using random scenes because we thought they fit in very well and made it even more carefree.
- We wanted the video to appear somewhat amateurish, because if we were the real band (or if Paramore created a video like this) it would grab a lot of the audiences attention because it would make the band seem a lot more real rather than being celebrities. It would also help make fans feel a lot closer to the band. We enjoyed giving the video a very personal touch.
- We feel that the video challenges most mainstream music videos, as we have a lot of cuts and not many transitions. We wanted to reflect the carefree, fun and happy feeling through everything we could, even through editing of the video. (As the quick cuts from scene to scene reflected a carefree attitude). Our video is a little like a montage, but we thought a lot about how to structure it, as we didn't want similar scenes too close together. We had to move a lot of the scenes round to make sure that they weren't too long or random. The end scenes were what we had to think about the most, as we needed something that brought the music video together and didn't just end on an anti-climax. We wanted a scene that we were all in, just to conclude, but then changed it so that the very last scene was us waving to the camera, this was like a goodbye to the audience, finishing off the personal touch.
- We got the idea of cuts on the beat straight from Goodwin's theory. We decided we needed to use it to ensure that we were able to get more marks. We also used a cuts on the beat at the beginning because we thought that it would make the beat a little heavier and when someone first watches our music video, it will make them want to watch on because of the strongly backed up beat.
- We wanted to use band scenes and scenes of the 'lead singer' miming because it would make the video seem more realistic and also show the strong friendship bond between the group. It also comes under Goodwin's theory again, so this would ensure that we gained more marks and made a successful music video.
- There are a couple of scenes of the band members running, we used these because we wanted to show that the band were free and could have fun together. This was another way of creating a fun atmosphere and backing up the idea of the strong friendship bond.
- The scenes of us in the park were mainly something to create a child like atmosphere, as the song is about having fun. A lot of these scenes were genuine and we were all actually having fun. We felt that this would make the video appear a lot more genuine and if we were the actual band, it would create a strong bond between band and fans.
- We are pleased with our music video, but to improve we would add things like filters to the video and we would also change the colours and make them a lot brighter. I think this would make the scenes a lot more fun and child like. It may also attract fans, as seeing a colourful scene is always pleasing to the eye.
- We would also change the scenes where there is the wall behind on show in the set up scenes.
- If we were being extremely picky, we would change the scenes where the 'lead singer' is miming, as she looks very nervous in some and her eyes dart around the room a lot. She still looks happy, but we think through body language, you can tell that she is nervous.

2/4/15
Today me and Brad came into school to finish off some unfinished work, which was evaluation question 2, evaluation question 3 and adding some more transitions to our music video.
We changed our evaluation question 3 from a power point to a prezi to make the evaluation much more creative and interesting rather than a basic power point.
We managed to add tabs to the blog making it much more interesting and have a sense of clarity around the blog something we lacked last year.

Day 13
- Today we edited the evaluation questions one and four. They are now finished and need to be rendered and posted onto the blog.
- We also changed the colours of some scenes in the film and added some transitions, as we were advised to for some extra marks. There are still a couple of scenes that need transitions added to them, but we have almost finished now.
- I will not be in, but the two other members are coming in on their day off to finish things off, as Thursday is the deadline date. There are a few things that need to be done, like evaluation question 2 and 3, but it shouldn't take too long.
- Everything needs to be rendered and then transitions need to be added to the music video and then we are finished.
Evaluation 4: editing the clips together
We spent today putting the clips together for evaluation 4, we had a problem turning the audio down on the adobe system, as we tried to overlay a track underneath the talking giving an audio from ain't it fun underneath the video, keeping it relatable and interesting.

Day 12
- Today we filmed another evaluation question. We are unsure of how we are going to have it so that it is different to the other questions. We have one more left to film and we think that we are going to do an interactive PowerPoint presentation.
- I also added to the blog, changed some posts, sorted out the spine for the digipak so that we have a spine, as that is what I forgot to do.

Evaluation question 3: plan
Question 3- What have you learned from your audience feedback?
- Before starting the process of actually filming our video, we sent out a questionnaire that gave us a template of what we could base our video on, we asked a range of people from aged 16-45.
- We then created a questionnaire analysis to bring the answers together and learn from it. This also made it easier to gather our ideas and understand what the audience wanted.
- We showed our video to a small group of people, the age range of the viewers varied, one being slightly older, two being around 17-19 and a smaller viewer around the age of 10-11.
- We decided to show these people as we didn't have a target audience and just hoped that people of all ages would enjoy our film, we wanted to back this up, hence showing a range of viewers of different age and gender.
- We also asked the audience for feedback
- We asked them questions such as:
- What did you like?
- Was there anything you disliked?
- How would you improve upon the video if it were up to you?
- What was your favourite part?
- How did the video make you feel?
- We asked questions like this so that we could back up our thoughts and theories and also take advice. We could then take parts of the video and change and shape it to what the audience asks for.
Evaluation Question 2: plan
- Evaluation question 2 plan- How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks.
- When making our music video and planning our ancillary tasks, we started thinking about how we were going to link our main product and ancillary texts. we had to think about clothing, props and colours. We also had to look at other digi paks and album adverts to see the clear links between them and then see how we could do this to ours.
- Firstly, we included the use of one of our main props which was balloons and we decided that covering our face with them would be the best idea for our ancillary texts, as this showed an alternative look without looking too indie, which is not Paramore's style. We wanted to remain faceless of the front of the digipak and when you open the pak, our faces are revealed, showing that you have to listen to the music to realise who we are.
- Secondly, we had to make sure that we were wearing clothes that we had worn during the filming at some point, as this became one of the key links between out ancillary tasks and the video itself. The audience would then be able to recognise us from the video.
- Finally, we had to make sure that our hair and make-up was the same to what is was when we filmed. If this wasn't the same then the combination between the two tasks would also be quite weak. if it were majorly out of context we may have been able to edit it, but it was safe to make sure we kept it all the same.
Day 11
- Earlier this week, we booked out the cadet hut for one period, as we couldn't find a free room, and if there was one, there was going to be a lot of background noise, making it harder for the camera to pick up our voices.
- The cadet hut was quiet and the room wasn't too big to make our voices echo. We didn't come across any major problems apart from messing up a word or so each, but then we just re-recorded it.
- We then spent the rest of the period editing the evaluation question, planning what we are going to say each and sorting the blog posts out.
Sunday, 22 March 2015
Day 10
- Today we planned to film another evaluation question, we had to look around the school to find a room to work in but we couldn't find any. Or rooms that could be available to use had students in it and we could not take the chance of having noise in the background as the microphones on the cameras aren't too great.
- I have printed off a rough version of the digipak, but my printer did not have enough ink to create bright and bold colours. But I glued it all together to see if it fit together properly and it did. I will have to create an inside spine, as I realised I hadn't.
- We seem to be on track, we just need to hurry up a little to meet the deadline. We are planning to come in, in the Easter holidays and our free periods again to catch up a little.

Evaluation Questions 4: Plan
How well did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation settings?
Media Technologies used:
Media Technologies used:
- Photoshop- create poster, manipulate images for digi pack.
- Camera Nikon- used for photo shoot, taking images for our digi pack and poster.
- HD camera- handheld, allowed us to use the, tripod as well as low and high angles without one.
- YouTube and Weebly- look at past students work, look at conventions and similar productions.
- Premier Pro- editing system used to edit and manipulate clips to fit them into our music video. This was much more advanced than year 12 when using Corel allowed us to cut down shots and edit them into separate clips, as well as looking at filters and effects.
Media technologies enhanced our production as we was able to, manipulate clips and cut them down whilst separating them, the software for editing was much more advanced making our video look much more professional. Supporting the sophisticated research stage, due to our better understanding of what clips to watch and use, knowing how to put them into our video with similar context.

Evaluation 4
Today we are going to film our evaluation questions, we have finished the rough editing of our music video, so we are going to look at the evaluation questions, I have planned evaluation question 4 on the research, planning, construction and evaluation regarding media technologies.

Day 9
- Today, one of the group members were out filming with a different group, so there were two left in the classroom. One group member planned evaluation question 2 and I started creating the digipak.
- It took a lot of time to figure out how to make the images square, how to add borders and download the right text. The problem I had, was the pictures being landscape and needing them to be square, so I had to add borders. I googled different methods to help me but they were just cropping the image, which was something I didn't want to do, as then the band members would be cropped out and it would totally ruin the images.
- I will only give the front cover a border on the top and bottom. For the other pictures, I will make them smaller than the actual page so that they have thick borders all around them.
Thursday, 12 March 2015
Day 8 of editing
- Today, evaluation question one was edited. The rough cut was finished and is now ready for feedback from our teacher.
- Evaluation 2, 3 and 4 are also being planned by the group so that all we need to do is come up with ideas on how to present them. We are thinking things like, voice over, a recording of each of us reading out the answers. We are unsure of what else, but are glad that we have one completed.
Day 7 of editing
- Today one of the group members worked on the rough cut, while I worked on the blog and plan for evaluation question one.
- One group member had to leave so I took over the editing, we have roughly around thirty seconds of editing to do and our rough cut will be complete. I moved a couple of clips around and cut the send of the song by around two seconds, as there was blank space where the song had faded and there was no sound.
- The evaluation question one is ready to be made and we have good ideas for it. or this question, we plan to use a wipe board and write a little bit about the question each time and rub it out. The clips will be sped up and we will have music over the top of it.

Audience Feedback
- Over the past couple of days, we have gathered some audience feedback, which has really helped us in what we can do now that the rough draft is completed.
- "In some of the balloon scenes, the wall behind was visible behind the studio sheets and in the scene of the band members walking away from the camera, it could have been split into different parts. There is a clear carefree feeling conveyed very well through out the video, which fits in really well with the music. I like the park and balloon scenes as they give a fun and excited feel to it. There is a strong friendship bond shown between the three people featured in the film. The sunny weather is very fitting with the video, I enjoyed watching this and it made me laugh."
- "This music video is very good and I especially liked the park scenes, it looks like the group are having a lot of fun. I liked the cuts on the beat at the beginning and would have liked to have seen more of them. the park scenes made me laugh and there were a few funny moments, like where the band were jumping around and climbing on things. There isn't much I would say to improve on, I really liked it.'
- "I like the idea of having the video being quite peronal to the 'band' and I like a lot of the hand held shots. The shots are great and there are a variety, which is very good. I also like the use of the cut to the beat. Some parts seemed to be mistakes, but once they were explained, I understood and it became clear to me that they were meant to be portrayed in a natural way and some were actually accidental and fit in perfectly. (Brandon falling over, running up the hill). I wouldn't be able to make any further improvements because it is a well designed music video. I would suggest having a larger variety of longer shot types. Andrea's singing was really well done and she looked like a professional. It made me feel somewhat envious, as to how good it is. It made me feel happy overall due to the fun feeling throughout the music video."
- " I like the funny parts where one of the band members is in the swing and the bit where someone fell over, that made me laugh. I really liked the beginning too. The video made me laugh and I really liked all of it. It made me feel happy."
_Andrea
Complete Album Advert
- I have created the album advert, the picture on the front will be what we are using for the cover of our digi pak. I have included minimal text, as I wanted it to be short and snappy for a viewer to read and understand. This will also make it easier to take in and will help a wider audience become attracted to the music video and album.
- The poster will be A4 size, printed on glossy paper. I have included the word 'Paramore' in larger letters and on the first line to clarify who we are, perhaps to an audience that wouldnt know or to attract fans from afar. I have used the Fueled by Ramen logo, as this is what album adverts include, as that is what helps them get the music published.

Band images
- These two images are for the background of the digi pak, like behind the CD and on a couple of other pages where writing will be written over them. (Title page, credits/licesing page.)
- For this particulat picture, I turned the saturation down and used a rubber tool to rub through the original layer to make the balloons brighter, this emphasises the theme of the digi pak and what might be inside. I think this posture also gives an alternative and slightly indie look, making the cover slightly mysterious.
- These postures were a 'spur of the moment' idea, and particularly like the one of the 'lead singer' in the front. I made sure the image was somewhat bright, the only thing I dont like is the light that shines in the top left hand corner, this is where the studio sheet was by a window and the light was shining in, at first look, we thought this helped with the style we wanted to put accross in the pictures, but I am not sure that I am keen on it now.
- There two are my favourite images from the shoot, Im unsure why, but I like the colours in the top one where the 'lead singer' is leaning on one band member. The band is also standing a little more upright.

Photos edited by Andrea.
Day 6 of editing
- After re-shooting a scene quickly, the two boys added it into the video. We are a lot more pleased with this and have made it look a little more realistic.
- We also did a photoshoot today, which went well and we stuck to what we had planned to do, the only thing we didnt do was draw faces on the balloons, as we wanted to go for a moody look to show our alternative side and not make the front cover too childish. We like the idea of the moody cover contrasting with the fun and carefree song inside.
- I have finished editing the photos and they are ready to be posted and used.
_Andrea
Re shooting (Day 6 of shooting)
- Today after our teacher looking over our music video, we realised that a music studio scene had to be re shot due to an extra in the background making it look out of place with the rest of the video, so due to the fact we was all in our own clothes, we decided to shoot the footage again, making it look slightly more realistic compared to the original footage, as we are now in our own clothes, fitting the rest of the video, and furthermore just look more realistic in our movements as we have already filmed the rest of the footage. We are now just going to go over teh footage and put in the new clips after they have been edited down.

Plan for photoshoot
- We have discussed what we want to do for our photo-shoot. We are aiming to make the lead singer stand out from the other members, as this is a theory of Goodwin's, making the lead singer stand out slightly will help an audience who isn't a fan of Paramore also recognise who the lead singer is.
- We are mainly being inspired by Paramore's Self Titled album cover, where they are stood with neutral expressions, they look serious and you can tell that they are an alternative band. Hayley is also facing away, while Jeremy and Taylor are looking at the camera, this is simple yet effective, because someone who isn't a fan will be able to tell that Hayley is the lead singer. This is also helped by Hayley's outfit, which is lighter than the others and her hair is bright.
- We made a list of things that we would like to include in our photo-shoot. We are definitely going to use balloons, as this will make it obvious that the song that we are using for our music video, will definitely be in our album. Paramore have also used this in their self titled album. As you can see that they have powder paint all over them, this links to their first single from this album that was released with a music video.
- We also discussed the importance of using an outfit from the video to include in the shoot, as this is also an important link. The two boys will be wearing something similar, while I will be wearing something very different, just to slightly stand out.
- We came up with the idea of using balloons over our faces, perhaps having the bassist and guitarist holding green balloons to cover their faces and the lead singer using a blue or yellow balloon.
- Another idea we thought of was doing the same, but drawing a cartoon style face on them and holding them up. I think the balloon idea will definitely create an alternative style and make the band look obviously different from any other band.
- We also like the idea of having natural sort of shots (or making them look natural), perhaps of us laughing, just showing the 'close friendship bond' between the 'band members' and how much fun they have. This type of shot would also still fit in with the fun theme to match with the 'Ain't it Fun' video.
- We would like a shot similar to the shot in the music video, where Bradley puts his arm around Brandon and I, as that shot looks genuine.
- We want the lead singer to stand out, so we came up with the idea of having us standing in height order, the lead singer being at the end (being the shortest). The two boys will be stood looking straight at the camera with straight face as and the 'lead singer' will be leaning on one of the boys with her head cocked to one side.
Day 5 of Editing
- Today we are going to (Bradley and Brandon) are going to look at trying to finish the editing of our music video.
- We have got to 3 minutes on our film, and we are looking to finish up today by finding something to fill in the last 1 minute and 15 seconds.
- The video is going quite well we just need to find the particular shots that will fit into the rest of the video, without looking unprofessional, following the same controlled theme.
- After looking at the shots we are also, hoping to keep a similar clothing tone, as we filmed over 4 occasions so the quality and clothing is slightly varied.

Band Logo
- We were informed that everything we create has to be original for our digipak and video, so even thogh we are using Paramore's name, we have to create our own logo. We were rather stuck on what to do and what logo we could create. One group member came up with the idea of using Paramore's logo, but giving it a small twist.
- Although, I am not totally sure what is Paramore's 'official' logo is, as they have a few. Their old logo, before the band split up, was butterfly wings on either side of the word 'Paramore'.
- But there is also more logos that show up, such as these.
- We decided to go with the simple 'bars' logo, as it would be easier to recreate.
- I recreated the logo in Photoshop, which was quite simple to do, I took screenshots of the logo being made, to prove that it is original, and has been created by someone in the media group.
- As you can see, I simple created the bars on their sides, making it obvious to fans who we are meant to be, but we are still being original. Here is the finished product:

Day 4 of editing
- Today we used our free periods to get some more work done. One of the group members edited while I did some work on the blog and then I helped work on the video. We managed to get a lot more don and only have around a minute left of clips to add. We are unsure of what to add at the end, as we want something of all three of us that will pull the whole film together.
- We managed to get some audience feedback, and when we have enough, we will create a blog post on it. We have received some good comments.
- We actually found a small part from a video that we didn't think we would use, that we have now decided to use.
- We did try to upload some scanned pictures of our work onto the memory stick, but they did not go through, so we just had to take pictures of them instead, which worked just as well.
- We are making progress and will be ready to do our photo shoot when the rough draft is complete.
Album advert plan
- For the album advert, we plan to use the same font and style. We like the idea of having a picture of the band from the same shoot, but not the same as the one on the front of our digipak. I don't think it will matter too much if they are the same, but we think having it slightly different will keep the 'fans' excited and interested in the 'upcoming album'.
- We like the idea of having the picture of the band at the top of the page and then the picture slowly fading to black, the black part being where we will put all information about the 'upcoming album'.
- We plan to add information like the name of the album and include something like 'Includes award winning, 'Ain't it fun' and 'Now'.
- We are going to include the price of the album if you pre order it and the date that it will be released.
- We want to make the advert and digipak as realistic as possible and think that we have good ideas for our work.
Digi Pak Plan
- We have made our choices on what we would like to do for our digi pak, I measured out how big it will be and how many pages we want to include in it.
- We spoke about having an image of all three of us in the front, with 'Paramore', 'Ain't it fun'. We spoke about an image using balloons, so that there was a clear link between the video and the album. We still need to come up for more ideas with the shoot, but we liked the idea of having all three band members stood with balloons covering their faces. We like the idea of the bassist and guitarist having the same colour balloon and then the lead singer having one colour to herself. We also have other ideas and we want to clearly represent that this band isn't a normal pop band.
- On the back of the case, we are going to have the song titles, a barcode, rights and licensing in small print and the logo of Paramore's record label, we are unsure if we will be able to use the actual logo, or if we will have to create our own.
- For the inside right of the digi pak we spoke about having the title page, perhaps with a logo on it, we aren't sure if we are allowed to use Paramore's logo, as the digi pak has to be original, so we plan to create a new logo, or use Paramore's logo with a twist to it.
- On the inside left we are going to have a close up image of balloons, or an image of the band, perhaps from the same shoot but a different picture that fits in with the scene.
- When the digipak is opened again, on the inside right we are going to have the CD, we plan to use what is on the front of the album and use it on that. For the background of the CD slot, we are going to have a close up of loads of balloons huddled together, this will be the same for the inside left too.
- On the outside right, we will have a credits page, stating people who helped, played, who owns the rights and licensing.
- On the outside left, we are going to have an image from the band shoot and use that, just to show the band off.
- For the spine of the case, we are going to have the band name and title of the album.
- We have chosen a font that we are going to use for everything all over the digipak and album advert.
_Andrea
Day three of editing
- Today two of the group members worked on the editing, while one worked on the digi pak planning.
- For the editing, a little more of the film was complete, (still being the rough cut). We have around one minute of the film left to do and then it will be complete, this will be out base coat for our music video, and then we will add scenes to it, take some advice, get some audience feedback and go from there.
- We need to add layers to the video, as well as changing the colours of the scenes, perhaps just using brightness and contrast to get some bold and colourful scenes, to add to the fun and carefree feeling.
- I think we have strong ideas for the digi pak and album advert. We plan to do a shoot, using balloons so that we have a clear link from the video to the advert, CD and it's casing.
- I think using the Marilyn Manson digi pak and analysing it has helped me a lot in realising what needs to be included and has made me understand things easier.

Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures
CD Analyasis
- The Unknown Pleasures CD is a replica of the Vinyl, so there are still certain parts of the digi pak that have essences of a vinyl throughout it.
- The front cover is black, with the Joy division logo, this makes the digi pak clear who the artist is and which album it is.
- The back of the digi pack is also black, it has three thin lines, one of them is underlining the the band name and album title and the other is underlining the record label (which is 'Factory Records). The middle line is not underlining anything.
- The spine is black and has the band and album title. It also has about the rights and licesing.
- Inside the digi pak (opened once), one side is white and the other is black, the white side has a small picture of a hand reaching out to a door knob, it is as if the camera is looking down a hallway. This image links to Joy divisions big hit song 'Love will Tear Us Apart' and this is used in the video to this song.
- When opening the left side, there is the CD and a booklet in a pocket. The booklet pocket tells you the location of where the CD was recorded, the dates and song list.
- The leaflet is all in black and white, it has images of the locations that they played at and images of the band members. The leaflet speaks about the lives oif the band members, songs and albums. I think this is a good idea, especially for new fans, as it gives them a lot of information and makes them feel closer to the band.
- The CD is black, with the logo, band name, album title and the item code. This keeps the CD relativley close to the vinyl, not much has been changed. This pleases the older fans who have invested in buying the CD.
- When the right side of the digi pak is opened, there is another CD, it is plain black and has 'The Factory Manchester Live13 July 1929' written on it. On the other side, there is a white page, it has the outside and inside songs, which is what would have been in the vinyl case to tell you what songs were on what part of the disc. It also tells you the song lenghts. Underneath this, there is the credits.
- This digi pak is extremley simple and I don't think we would decide to do something like this. I, personally, like the Manson digi pak with the thermo sensitive disc and the textured case, I think this is very interesting and makes it different and stand out from other digi paks. I would like to consider doing something like this for our digi pak.

Day two of editing
- Today was our second day of filming, we were worried that we didn't have enough scenes to cover our whole music video, but found a folder full of more scenes. We are pleased that we filmed so much because there are scenes in which we did not plan to use and were just testing different shots out and ended up using them. At some points we came across mental blocks and were unsure what scenes to use, as some of them did not fit in or make sense, but we managed to find different scenes.
- We had the teacher look at half of our video (rough cut) and she said that the scenes were too close up, we then worked out that we needed to click 'scale to frame size' as the clips were fitted to the screen and cutting things out, like the other half of the microphone in one scene.
- We were worried that our film was going to be criticized for not making sense to some viewers, as we wanted it to be a carefree and fun video and we don't actual have a storyline.
- We had a couple of problems in getting scenes to fit in where we accidentally moved and cut them, so we had to resize them and make sure they fit the beat of the song.
- I think the whole group found it hard dealing with the smaller scenes, as they are harder to click on and very fiddly.
- We didn't get our rough cut done in time, but we are making a lot of progress.

Day 6 of filming
- Today was our last day of planned filming. We filmed the scenes of us on the bridge, we didn't come across many problems, we just had to find the bridge, as we couldn't find the path leading up to it. We had to use my mum, as there was no one else to film, so we encountered a few problems, as she didn't know how work the camera properly. We had to shoot a few scenes a couple of times, as we couldn't communicate very well, as my mum was on the path next to a busy road and we were up high on the pass-over. There wasn't many pictures to take here, as it was only one scene and we were mainly in one spot, which was just the bridge.
- We now only have editing left to do and our rough cut is due next Thursday, I think this will mean spending some of our own free time doing this, as we may not have enough lessons to complete it in time.

Day one of editing
- Today we started our first day of editing. We are somewhat behind, but using out free study periods, we will go to media and edit some more. Our deadline is this Friday (13th), but we are not at school so it will be Thursday (12th). As we have never used Premier Pro, getting used to it took a little more time, but I think it is a lot better than Corel and somewhat simpler to use.
- The first part of the editing was very tedious and time consuming, especially as we were just getting used to it. We had to cut very small clips of each group member on the swing, almost like stop motion because the clips were so short, we wanted to follow something from Goodwin's theory, which was cuts on the beat. We were going to do every beat, but decided that for a rough cut this may be too challenging at the moment, so we cut at every other beat, which still worked because one beat includes a heavier drum beat and a symbol. Cutting clips so small was quite fiddly and took a while to get used to, but in the end we managed to do it. At these scenes, we wanted the camera to be in the same place and make it look like each band member was swapping swings, but on the scene of me, someone moved the camera and zoomed it in, so it doesn't look very good. It doesn't stand out too much, but I think for the rough cut we will leave it and then ask our media teacher for feedback, we will then re-film these scenes.
- The rest of the editing went well, the miming was near enough spot on, which we were all extremely relieved about and we also adapted to the new editing programme very quickly.

Digi pak analysis- Marilyn Manson
Marilyn manson- The Pale Emperor

- The front of the digi pak is an image of Manson and there is no album title, logos or names. This could be something to make the fans feel special, as only they would be able to identify the album and artist. If they were to walk past in a shop, this would catch their eye. This would be apart of audience pleasures.
- The colour theme seems to be black and white, which appears to be lighter than his other albums, and he is in a pale suit. this could perhaps be a link to the title 'The Pale Emperor'. It could also be a sign that his music has changed slightly, maybe taking a lighter side.
- The case has a texture, which is rough, perhaps this is to show the genre of his music, which is a little rough and metal like.
- The back of the CD case has a large 'MM' logo, which obviously stands for Marilyn Manson, this is his logo, which is a new design for his new tour and album, (which is this one). So still, only fans will know who's logo and album this is. Underneath the logo is a small picture of a foggy scene with someone in a cloak, their face cannot be seen and the darkness inside the hood is exaggerated to make the image look creepier. This could also link to the title of the album, which is based around Roman Emperor 'Constaintius The Pale' .
- Underneath this image is the song list, the font is small and simple to read, each song is numbered with Roman numbers, keeping the Roman and classy theme going. The bar code is smaller than most bar codes and takes up less room.
- There is also the record label name and logo, very small in the corner, which is Cooking Vinyl and then by this is the licencing and rights. The texture is also on the back of the album too, perhaps Manson wanted this because it is a rare way of packaging and is different to what most artists have done.
- The spine has the same writing as there is on the back for the song list, including the artist, album name and the product code.
- When the Digi pak is first opened, there are two pictures, both are, again, blurred, one image is of someone in a white shirt with a white sheet over them and they are pulling the sheet tight over their face. The blur makes it look like the model is shaking manically and we can't identify this person again. The image is in black and white like the others.
- The next picture is darker and you can barely see, but the model is wearing a suit, his posture is abstract, with his arms up in the air, this is another image in which you cannot identify who it is, but i think this one is of Manson himself. Perhaps it is him in all of them or just this one and he doesn't want you to be able to identify him, perhaps because he wants you to focus on his music rather than his image, as the music is what matters more. The image is abstract like Manson's personality.
- When the Digi pak is opened again, the CD is revealed, which is completely black, with the rights and licencing written in a lighter shade of black around the outer edge of the CD. This CD is thermo-chrome heat-sensitive, so when it is played in a CD player, it heats up and another eerie image of Manson is revealed. You can slightly see Manson's face on this and I know for definite that this is him. He is in a black cloak and he has extremely pale skin. Perhaps this is him slightly revealing himself, but only after you have listened to his music.
- On the other side, there is a blank, white page and 'The Pale Emperor' can be read. I think the colour scheme and this white page is a play on the word 'pale' and the colour works with the album.

- When opened again, the same image that is revealed on the CD is on this page. This works with the theme of this Digi pak. This image is clear and isn't blurred and perhaps, again, this is him showing his identity after you have appreciated his music.
- On the other side there is a blank page with credits, licencing and telling you about the producers, singer, instrument players.
