- The video, Playing God is very well made, it has a lot of hidden meanings, close to the band and the fan base.
- The video and song refers back to another song by Paramore, called Ignorance, which fans can easily pick out. In the video, Hayley Williams (lead singer), has the band tied up in one scene, she also has a lot of flash backs to tell you what happened beforehand. Hayley poisoned the tea so that she could tie them up in her basement. At the time, the band had a lot of problems and most of the fans knew that they were on the brink of splitting up. Perhaps tying the band up was a metaphor for keeping them together.
- Halfway through the video, Hayley stops and looks in the mirror and sings to herself, "this is the last I can chance.", perhaps referring to how she can treat the band and vice versa, as the band were trying to blame her for the arguments and then she tied them up and had them under a magnifying glass, shouting at them and scrutinising them. At this moment (looking in the mirror) she is realising that she too is 'playing God', in fact all of them are and accusing each other.
- Hayley then sings to herself, 'I'm half as good as it gets' and 'I'm on both sides of the fence', saying she is also to blame but she is on no ones side.
- The end scene shows that they are all to blame and that them all blaming Hayley will not help anything. She then proceeds to shut the basement door on them, still leaving them tied up. Perhaps she is letting them know that they are not being let off easily.
- Through out the video, Hayley looks at pictures of the band, maybe when they were happy together and she also looks at and sings to herself.
- The video itself doesn't have any dancing or dance routine. It is an acted video in which tells a story, close to the band and the fan bases hearts.
- The video contains a lot of retro props (mini cooper), costume, make up and filtering. (Lens dust and flickering.
- The record label, which is Fueled By Ramen, demands a lot of scenes with Hayley Williams. As she is like the part of the band in which most fans want to see. A lot of teenage girls follow her fashion sense and boys find her attractive. Hayley stands out from the band as the lead singer, being the voice of the band. People who aren't even fans of Paramore may recognise Hayley Williams.
- Hayley's hair is always different for each music video Paramore produce. She is well known for her wacky hair colours. Her usual colour is bright orange, this is like her trade mark. Lots of people (mainly girls) will aspire to be like Hayley and may also dye their hair to look like hers.
